In 2008. EPC Women In Ministry launched the REAL (Reaching, Equipping, Advancing, Leading) Training Initiative for women ministry leaders. The initiative implemented the mission of EPC Women In Ministry to encourage, resource and mobilize women in our churches to participate as ministry leaders in revealing to our world the redeeming love of Jesus Christ.
It is clear that ministry can no longer be done in the same way if we hope to have a transforming impact on the individuals we come in contact with and the culture we live in. The extraordinary task before us is to relate in relevant ways to a changing world with the Good News of an unchanging God.
Much has been learned in the past few years as to what women leaders are desiring to know and what skills they want to learn so that they may know Jesus Christ more deeply and lead in ministry more effectively. While we had no idea how it would be received, we were greatly encouraged at the response of leaders to the training guide. Leaders from churches of all sizes and all areas of the country have found the guide to be a ministry resource that they are able to use to develop and equip ministry leaders.
In the second edition of the guide, material has been formatted in such a way as to make it more readable and therefore, more usable. It is our intention that this guide will provide the 'foundation' for the way we think about and view ministry in the EPC.
More than a dozen women leaders have contributed their experience, skill and passion for ministry in creating this guide. Surely, each of them would acknowledge the multitudes of others who have influenced and impacted them as they have grown as ministry leaders. As you use this material, you will recognize that we are a diverse body of believers - who hold to the truth of the Gospel that is unwavering.
May this resource be a "beginning" or even a "second beginning" for you as you spend the time, effort and commitment necessary in becoming a woman with the character and wisdom to be used by God fully for His purpose.
